CROOKSTON, Minn. (November 9, 2007) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston campus and community are invited to an open house at the campus Writing Center, located in Owen Hall 270, on Thursday, November 15, 2007. A ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. with remarks by U of M, Crookston Chancellor Charles H. Casey and will introduce the Center’s new coordinator, Shou-ching Chao, Ph.D. Refreshments will be served.
“Writing is such an important skill for students and the Writing Center will help students of any skill level improve their writing ability,” Chao said. “We are excited to invite the campus and community to join us for this open house. We hope they will come and see not only where we are located but what our Center has to offer.”
The Writing Center is designed to help students with the strategies and skills they will need for writing papers, including prewriting, composing, and revising. In the short time since his arrival on campus, Chao has been working on the mission, services, policies and procedures of the Writing Center. The open house is a chance for the campus and community to learn more about the significance of the Writing Center and how it enhances the services of the Academic Assistance Center.
