CROOKSTON, Minn. (September 18, 2007) – A brand new scholarship, given by Norby’s Work Perks of Grand Forks, N.D., will help support one student annually at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.
Through the scholarship, Norby’s Work Perks will help provide support for one junior or senior majoring in business and/or entrepreneurship through the Norby’s Work Perks Scholarship.
Matthew Norby, a 2006 graduate of the U of M, Crookston, worked with Corby Kemmer, director of development & alumni relations to put together the five-year gift commitment. “As a recent graduate of the U of M, Crookston, I understand the challenges students face and can identify with how much they need support from alumni and friends,” said Norby. “That is why I wanted to get involved in giving back. I can actually help those students who understand the ‘starving student’ feeling you have when you are attending college.”
"Student recipients can attest to the difference scholarship support makes in their collegiate career both financially and personally,” said Kemmer. “A scholarship lets the student know that someone believes in them. My appreciation and thanks to Matt Norby, his family and the Norby's organization for their support and commitment to the University of Minnesota, Crookston and its students.”
The Norby’s Work Perks Scholarship is designed for students with a 2.5-3.5 grade point average and involvement in athletics and/or campus organizations. The first scholarship will be awarded for spring semester 2008.
