completing a project that will make all yearbooks from the Northwest School of Agriculture (NWSA) and the U of M, Crookston available on the Web. The yearbook project is one part of a digital initiative by the UMC Library to digitize rare or important materials from the campus archives. Access is fully functional, and offers remote access to the only full collection of yearbooks in existence online.

“This project will be of interest to our alumni and also to historians, genealogists and family members of those who attended the schools,” says Director of Library Services Owen Williams. “It also provides a rich visual history of the campus and preserves and protects fragile yearbooks from use.”

The yearbook collection is searchable and accessible anywhere Internet access is available. The archive includes nine decades of yearbooks starting with the NWSA, the residential high school on the campus from 1906-68. The project is ongoing and currently access is available from 1929 through 2000. The yearbooks, beginning in 1910, continue through the U of M, Crookston Technical College (1966-93) and from the time the campus became a baccalaureate degree granting institution in 1993 until they ceased to exist in 2000. The project preserves not only the history of the University, but of the region as well.

In the past, the Library has digitized the Northwest School Monthly newsletter, commencement programs and Crookston campus bulletins. These projects along with the yearbook project offer extensive biographical information on alumni, faculty and staff members. The retrospective project is available at http://yearbooks.umcrookston.edu
