The International Water Institute and the Red River Watershed Management Board are hosting the 13^th annual River Watch (RW) Student Forum Wednesday, March 19, 2008, on the University of Minnesota, Crookston campus. Approximately 250 students, teachers, and resource managers will participate in this annual Forum to showcase the work of RW Teams from high schools in the Red River of the North Basin (N.D., Minn., and Manitoba). 

The public is invited to view displays of the RW Teams’ 2007 monitoring results in Brown Dining Hall over the noon period and attend the afternoon program beginning at 1 p.m. in Kiehle auditorium.  RW schools will give several presentations demonstrating their contributions to better understanding our watersheds and the services the RW teams provide to their communities.

Awards will be presented to the schools that have built on the basic RW water quality monitoring program and completed additional activities of note. Partners who have provided significant support to the RW program will also be recognized.

The River Watch program continues to provide scientifically credible water quality information about the Basin’s valuable water resources. The International Water Institute and partners are working together to integrate River Watch directly into school curriculums, include biological and flow monitoring, become involved in Adopt-A-River community clean-up efforts, and much more.
