U of M, Crookston 2008 Commencement

The many achievements of the Class of 2008 at the University of Minnesota Crookston were recognized during commencement exercises on Saturday, May 3. Family and friends joined the more than 140 seniors who participated. The day began with a reception at 11 a.m., in the Student Center followed by commencement at 2 p.m., in Lysaker Gymnasium.

The commencement address entitled “More Lies Ahead” was given by the Honorable Patricia Simmons, M.D., chair of the University of Minnesota Board of Regents. Senior Katie Jeremiason, president of the Crookston Student Association spoke on behalf of the graduating class, and Alumna Cindy Bigger, ’79, welcomed the new graduates into the alumni association.

The 2008 commencement exercises mark the 99th to take place on the Crookston campus. The event also honored the Minnesota Sesquicentennial with the singing of the official song for the statehood celebration, “Shines for All to See,” by the U of M, Crookston Choir.

The 2008 Commencement photo album will be available May 14.
