Following is a listing of services and furnishing provided for all UMC students electing to live in the campus residence hall system
Computer Access -
UMC's residence hall rooms are all equipped with LAN (local area network) and wireless connections, allowing each student access to the University of Minnesota's computer network. This network subsequently provides access to the Internet and World Wide Web. UMC students, faculty, and staff have access to any or all of the following:
- Electronic mail (email) communication with people all over the world
- Personal web site accounts
- Information and news from a wide variety of sources and research institutions
- Public domain and shareware software of all types
- Access to many university libraries, the Library of Congress and more!
Telephones and Phone Service - Since most residents choose to purchase their own phones, rooms are not provided with standard issue telephones.
Student are issued a security code to access individual voice mail message accounts. Long distance calls from rooms are automatically billed to individual account. Long distance phone service bills are sent out monthly and are payable directly to the University. Questions concerning your billings or account should be directed to the Business Office in Selvig Hall. Repair requests should be directed to the Office of Residential Life & Security Services. Information regarding sign-up, billings and deposit will be sent during the summer months. There is an additional fee for local telephone service.

Laundry Facilities - The residence halls have laundry rooms equipped with coin-operated washers and dryers. The laundry rooms are located either in the basement or on the first floor of all halls.
Basic Furnishings - All rooms in UMC residence halls are provided with basic furnishings for each resident. Rooms are equipped with extra long twin beds (regular fitted sheets will not fit these beds), limited wardrobe and drawer space, and one desk and desk chair for each student. Students are responsible for their own telephone, bed linens, pillows, spreads and blankets. Report any maintenance problems to the Office of Residential Life & Security Services in Centennial Hall.
Most residence halls have lounges where students, friends, and family may visit, watch TV, play ping-pong or billiards, or have floor or inter-hall sponsored activities.
Room dimensions vary from hall to hall; however, a common two person room in Skyberg and McCall is 12 x 15. Brink bedrooms are 12 x 14.
