Public Invited to April 6 Open House for UMC's New "One Stop" Student Services Center Staff members of UMC's "One Stop" Student Services Center invite the Crookston community to an open house in Owen Hall 170 and 270 on Thursday, April 6, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visitors will be able to tour the new One Stop Center and meet with staff and students about services offered by the center. Tom Helgeson of KROX 1260 AM will broadcast live from the campus during this time. The basic premise of the One Stop Center is to provide easy access to a variety of services and staff people in one place. Through the centralized location of staff and services, students can complete their administrative tasks much more efficiently without having to go from building to building. Information is easily obtained and students do not have to wonder what office to go to with their concerns. Students can also take care of business directly with self-service tools, such as voice response systems or Internet-based services. Staff members also learn from each other and achieve “synergy” in their efforts working with student concerns. This is especially effective in the areas of counseling, student support, and academic assistance, but it also works well in the admissions, financial aid, and registration sequence of services. Offices that comprise the One Stop Center include the Academic Assistance Center, Admissions, Counseling and Career Services, Disability Services, Multicultural and International Programs, Registrar, Student Financial Aid, and Student Support Services. |
