UMC Names Employee of Semester
Renee Mulcahy of Fertile was named Employee of the Semester for fall 1999 at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). Mulcahy joined the UMC staff in 1998 as program associate for Outreach and Continuing Education. Prior to that she worked for the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute from 1992 to 1998.
Mulcahy supports a wide range of outreach and continuing education initiatives. Most notably, she is the coordinator of the campus Elderhostel program, which brings a hundred senior students to UMC every summer form all over the country. The Elderhostlers learn to use technology, and they also discover UMC’s wonderful campus
Distance education is another component of Mulcay’s work portfolio, and she has also helped design and implement a system for tracking continuing education activity at UMC.
"Renee is wonderfully helpful to students, staff and faculty on campus. And she is very helpful to the public," said Barbara Muesing, director of Outreach.
