Third Installment of Crookston-Lucille’s Kitchen Dialogue Continues March 23

Citizens from Crookston and North Minneapolis will continue their dialogue in another conversation on Tuesday, March 23. The third in a series of four discussions will take place at 133 Kiehle on the University of Minnesota, Crookston Campus beginning at 8:30 a.m. North Minneapolis citizens will gather at Lucille’s Kitchen. Minnesota Public Radio will carry the conversation live on all their stations beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The particular focus will be on how citizens at Crookston and North Minneapolis can work together to influence politics and the legislative agenda. State lawmakers representing both locations will offer their views on the subject. Citizens at each location can make comments and ask questions, and phone calls will be taken from the radio listening audience.

Everyone is invited to join in. Coffee will be available at 8:30 a.m. at the Crookston site, then live on the radio from 9-10 a.m. If you can’t join the group at UMC, you are invited to listen to any Minnesota Public Radio Station.

Connecting Lucille’s Kitchen and the University of Minnesota Crookston provides opportunity for citizens from different backgrounds to explore common interests. At a time when the disconnect between urban and rural seems to be widening, this project uses technology to connect citizens around issues that are important to the public good.

One of the more passionate exchanges was a follow-up discussion on education as a way out of economic distress.

Speaking at Crookston were Milo Mathison, Carolyn Weber, Liz Valdez, and Steve Hannah.
