UMC’s International Series Announced for 1999

India, Black Woman’s Experience, Native American Cuisine, and Uruguay highlight the University of Minnesota, Crookston UMC’s1999 Monday Evening International Series. All programs are held on Monday evenings in March, beginning March 8. Each evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with an ethnic dinner for $8, followed by a 7:00 p.m. program in Sahlstrom Conference Center. The dinners are by reservation only.

To kick off the series on Monday, March 8, the topic is India Mystica: A Journey Through the Mystique of India with Deeptha Reddy.

The Black Woman’s Experience in America: An Evening of Song, Poetry, and Narrative with Denise Myers, Soprano, will be presented on March 15.

On March 22, the topic is Native American Cuisine: Past to Present with Debbie and Barbara Stumblingbear.

The final Monday evening in the series will be on March 29. The topic is Uruguay: The Switzerland of South America with Dr. Sara Badano and Gerardo Pin.

Each dinner includes special ethnic recipes from the featured country, according to Mario Prada, director of International and Multicultural Programs at UMC and coordinator of the International Series.
