UMC's Feiro Presented FFA
Degree Tom Feiro, lab services coordinator for agriculture and natural resources, received an Honorary FFA State Degree presented by the Minnesota FFA Association at their recent meeting in Northrup Auditorium, at the University of Minnesota. Feiro graduated from UMC in 1975 and continued his education at UMC when it became a baccalaureate institution graduating in 1996 Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor of science degree in environmental and natural resource management. A native of Duluth, he began working at UMC in 1977 as laboratory service coordinator for the natural resources department, He is also the senior environmental health and safety technician for the campus. He is a member of the Environmental Education Council (Region and State), is a Volunteer Firefighter and president of the local school board. Feiro was recognized for his leadership involvement in agriculture education and FFA. He annually coordinates the wildlife contests at Ag Activities Day and the regional contests which involve many students from 30-35 schools in the northern half of Minnesota. In addition, he is the liasion person with the ag teachers and gives guidance on reference materials which they can pass on to their students.
