UMC SIFE Chapter Has Success in Chicago

The University of Minnesota, Crookston Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) chapter recently competed at a regional exposition in Chicago, Illinois. The UMC SIFE chapter delivered a 30-minute audio-visual presentation highlighting its educational outreach programs and activities of the past year. The UMC chapter finished the Exposition in Chicago being named the First Runner Up. This is the second year of SIFE activities at UMC.

SIFE members completed activities throughout the state of Minnesota in Crookston, Minneapolis, East Grand Forks, and Thief River Falls, as well as in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The activities included projects with elementary, junior high, high school, and college students, and various community service projects. The UMC SIFE chapter currently has 16 active members. The chapter’s advisor is Steven Shirley, instructor of marketing at UMC.

SIFE is a student organization involving over 650 colleges and universities globally. The mission of SIFE is to provide college students the best opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills through learning, practicing, and teaching the principles of free enterprise. The organization is open to interested students of all majors.
