Final Installment
Presented to UMC Rural Chair
Ken Broin, lead trustee of the Veden Trust, recently
presented the final installment for the $1 million Veden Chair
for Rural Economic Development to UMC Chancellor Donald Sargeant.
The check was presented at the UMC Spring General Advisory Board
Meeting in the Twin cities.
The $1 million chair was established at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) by the Dr. Frank W. Veden Charitable Trust.
Dr. Veden had a dental practice in Fergus Falls for 54 years. It was his commitment to rural Minnesota that led to his generosity to UMC. He believed that the support of economic development in rural America was critical if young people were going to assume future leadership responsibility for rural economic development and growth in their respective communities. It was his intent that his gifts be used for this purpose in rural Minnesota.
