UMC Accepted Into the Northern Sun
Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC)
The University of Minnesota, Crookston
(UMC) announced today that its athletic programs have been
accepted for membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate
Conference (NSIC). The NSIC will expand to a ten-member
conference beginning July 1, 1999. The new members accepted into
the conference are Wayne State, Wayne, Nebraska; Concordia
College, St. Paul, Minnesota; and the University of Minnesota,
Crookston. Current members include: Bemidji State University,
Moorhead State University, University of Minnesota, Duluth,
University of Minnesota, Morris, Northern State, Southwest State,
and Winona State.
"We are very excited about the opportunity of becoming a member of the NSIC and competing at the NCAA II level. We realize that competing at this level will be a great challenge, but with the support of the University, the Crookston community and the region, we can make this opportunity a successful one," said Athletic Director, Marv Bachmeier.
UMC plans to make application to the NCAA II by June 15, 1998.
