Junior
Olympics Volleyball Coming to Crookston
Junior Olympic Volleyball will begin in Crookston on March 10. The locally based club is called North Valley Juniors and will be co-directed by Kelly Hollands, UMC volleyball coach, and Woody Woodbridge, assistant volleyball coach.
Tryouts for the teams will be Sunday, March 8. Fee is $10. Registration forms are available from local high schools or by calling Hollands at 218-281-8418. Hollands hopes to put together five teams with a limit of 10 to 12 players per team. Once the teams are put together, they will practice regularly, usually Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and travel to various tournaments within the region.
Participants will be assessed a one-time fee that will cover all tournament registrations, membership in the North Country Region, insurance, equipment, lodging, uniforms, coaching salaries, administrative costs and gym rental costs.
"Were trying to make things as simple as possible, and were trying to make things as inexpensive as possible," Hollands said, adding that the fee will range from $200 to $250 for a season.
The spring season will run from March 10 to April 26. A summer session from May 5 through June 14 is also planned.
Disability accommodations available upon request. For more information, call Coach Holland at 218-281-8418.
