Students with Disabilities Subject of Satellite Town Meeting
Serving Students With Disabilities: What Families And Communities Need To Know is the subject of a satellite Town Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). The downlink will take place in UMC's Sahlstrom Conference Center AB.
The Town Meeting will look at ways families, educators and communities can work together to improve education for students with disabilities and provide schools with the tools to assess what all children are learning. The discussion also will consider the recent amendments to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which provided children with disabilities an education that meets their individual needs.
In this hour-long program, U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley and his guests will address these questions:
The Town Meeting is free and interactive. It is open to the public. Participants may call the toll-free number and ask questions or share experiences with the panelists.
