University of Minnesota, Crookston WordmarkDrugs, Prison, Gangs and Recovery Topic for Talk at UMC

An admitted former drug user and drunk, now an author, will give a powerful message Thursday, April 2, 7:00 p.m., in Bede Ballroom at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). The public is invited.

Russell J. Simon Jr. will speak about drugs, prison, gangs and recovery. He travels throughout the United States and Canada sharing his message to people of all ages. He is author of the book "Inside the Walls."

His message centers on a the realistic dangers of making poor choices at a young ages and suffering the consequences. He will talk about choices, personal responsibility, empowerment and hope.

Simon says he will get listeners’ attention and keep them spell-bound as he tells of the deadly powers of drug and alcohol addiction and other topics. He says his message can save lives.

"Reach out and live. Don’t die because of this addiction. Whatever is going on in your home life, social or peer life, reach out and talk about it," says Simon.

Based in Roseville MN, Simon has spoken to groups of 2 to 5,000 people, from kindergartners to senior citizens. He has spoken to alternative schools, juniors and senior highs, E.B.D. classes, public and parochial colleges, junior colleges, and many other organizations.
