Vocal Group Blind Man’s Bluff to Play UMC November 6

The group Blind Man’s Bluff will perform at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) on Tuesday, November 6, 2001.  The group will perform in Bede Ballroom at 8 p.m.  Admission to the event is free for UMC students and $2 for all others.  The public is invited to attend.

Because the group members sing without instrumental accompaniment, they can, technically, be considered a cappella. But the members of Blind Man’s Bluff prefer to call their music “vocal rock” because “our vocal percussion and unorthodox methods of singing push us into a new category.”  Heavy amplification, electronic effects, and the choice of music also add to what makes the group so different from classical a cappella.

David Wilner, Eric Skalinder, Adam Sears, Paul Donnelly, and David Anderson performed for the first time as Blind Man's Bluff on New Years Eve 1999 at the Milwaukee Crystal Ball celebration.  Their hometown is Chicago, but with over twenty years of collective professional experience, this young modern rock band has quickly established a loyal nationwide following.

The group has performed 200 shows per year in over 30 states at such venues as Chicago's House of Blues, United Center, New York's Bitter End, and hundreds of colleges throughout the nation. The group’s UMC performance is part of their farewell tour.  The members will be going their separate ways to pursue individual projects in early December.

This event is sponsored by UMC Student Programming and Activities for Campus Entertainment (SPACE).  Disability accommodations are available upon request by calling 218-8506.
