UMC to Host Rural Development Policy Dialogue April 11UMC will host a dialogue on rural development policy issues on Wednesday, April 11, in Sahlstrom Conference Center, rooms A and B. The objectives of the dialogue are to discuss rural development initiatives currently underway and to identify possible rural development projects that involve collaborative work among various agencies and organizations. G. Edward Schuh, Chair of the Minnesota Rural Development Council and Director of the Freeman Center for International Economic Policy, will be the featured speaker. University of Minnesota Regent Robert Bergland, formerly the U.S. Secretary for Agriculture in the Carter Administration, and Charles “Chuck” Casey, Dean of the University of Minnesota Extension Service, will also attend. Other members of the Minnesota Rural Development Council and representatives from several foundations dedicated to rural economic development are also scheduled to attend. Local and regional civic and organizational leaders from northwest Minnesota are welcome.
