Dr. Del Roelofs of Crookston has been appointed associate director of development and alumni relations at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) and the Northwest Experiment Station (NWES). The 12 month, renewable appointment began January 15, 1997.
"We are pleased to have someone of Del's caliber to assist with development and alumni relations for the university and the experiment station. Del will be a valuable asset to our campus," said Allan Larson, director of External Relations.
Del brings to the position an extensive knowledge of people in the Red River Valley. From 1970 to 1976 he was superintendent of Schools for the Crookston School District. From 1977 to 1991, he was the owner-manager of Red River Distributing, Inc., in Crookston.
He left Crookston to become director of Administrative Support Services for Northeast Metropolitan Intermediate District 916 in White Bear Lake, MN. In 1993 he became president of Northeast Metro Technical College. He returned to Crookston in 1996.
Roelofs has a doctor of education in educational administration from the University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY; master of education in education from South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD; and bachelor of arts degree in industrial arts, physical education and science from Westmar College, LeMars, IA.
He is a member of the UMC Teambackers and of First Presbyterian Church of Crookston. He and his wife Judy have two children and five grand-children.
