Host Family Freindship Program

For International Students who are looking for another option to staying in the dorms on campus there is the RSVP's International Friendship Program which helps a student find a family or friend to live with off campus durring the school year.

What is it?

The RSVP International Friendship Program is a friendship exchange between RSVP volunteers and international students.

How does it work?

International students are paired with a local RSVP host (a family, couple, or individual) for the academic year. The hosts provide an informal introduction to life in the United States. Hosts and students can get together for many types of activities: meals, family outings, holiday celebrations, community events, scenic drives, or any of the Host Family activities throughout the year. Students can help their hosts learn more about their cultures. They might show pictures from home, prepare a meal, or invite their hosts to an international program on campus. A successful host-student relationship is dependent on a shared effort between the host and the student.

How can you join?

Complete the form on line and send it to Rae French in the International Programs Department. Depending on time available, you will receive a letter from RSVP with information about your host/student, including the name, address and telephone number, or you will be invited to a reception to meet potential hosts/students. In order to build a friendship, RSVP recommends getting together at least once a month.
