Campus Attendance Policies
First Day: Mandatory Attendance
Students must attend the first class meeting of every course in which they have registered, unless they have obtained the instructor's approval for the intended absence PRIOR TO THE FIRST MEETING. Without this prior approval, students may lose their place in class to another student.
If students wish to remain in a course in which they were absent the first day without prior approval, they should contact the course instructor as soon as possible. Instructors have the right to deny admission if the course is full.
General Attendance
I nstructors are responsible for providing students written statements of the attendance policy to be observed in each individual course. Each instructor determines the attendance policy, so all requests for absences must be made directly to the instructor.
Students may be required to verify absences due to illness.
All assigned coursework should be arranged with the course instructor in advance when anticipating absences for official University activities such as participation in varsity athletics, official student forum activities, or course or club sponsored field trips.
