Duties
The University of Minnesota,
Crookston believes student should have input on campus committees.
Part of the duties of a member of the Student Association are
to take part in these committees. The following list details
all of the various committees that have student representatives.
Student Association
- Club Loans and Grants: Review grant proposals each quarter
and make recommendations for money received by organizations.
- Some Student Senators are elected in the spring semester
and the remaining will be elected in the fall semester.
Applications can be picked up at the Information Desk or
the Leadership Office.
Campus Assembly Committees
- Access for Persons with Disabilities: two students; Insure
access to programs, services, and facilities in compliance
with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Admissions and Enrollment Management: two students;
Policies for college admission.
- Awards: one student from each academic division; Coordinate
all campus awards and honors for students and plan awards
presentations.
- Commencement: two students; Help plan spring graduation.
Concerts and Lectures: four students; Plan and present concerts, lectures,
and cultural programs.
- Constitution and By-Laws: two students; Review and recommend
amendments to the college constitution and by-laws.
- Curriculum: one student from each academic division;
To examine and review the curriculum and its programs continuously
for possibilities for improving your program.
- Environmental Health, Safety, Energy Management and Civil
Defense: two students; Deal with campus health and safety
issues.
- Financial Aid: two students; Recommend policy on distribution
of financial aid.
- Grievance Committee on Academic Freedom: one student;
Hear grievances on academic freedom issues.
- Intercollegiate Athletics: two students; Recommendations
on the UMC athletic programs.
- Scholastic Standing: two students; Hear concerns on academic
status and act on appeals.
- Student Complaints: seven students; Hear and act on student
issues.
- Student Conduct: three students; Male, female, and off-campus
representation. Hear and act on violations of the UMC Campus
Conduct Code.
- Student Representatives to the Campus Assembly: Twenty-five
student voting members at the Campus Assembly meetings
held once every semester.
Administrative Committees
- Admissions and Enrollment Management: two students (one
traditional and one non-traditional age). Advise Chancellor
and Director of Admissions in marketing UMC.
- Fees Committee: six students; Representative to the Board
of Regents, Representative on University Senate Consultative
Committee and students from each academic unit. Review
student service fees and recommend fees for the next year.
- Parking: two students; Evaluate parking needs, policy,
and make recommendations.
- Health Services: five students; representing residence
halls, non-traditional, men and women. Review and recommend
health services and programs.
- Academic Calendar: three students; Develop the college
academic calendar.
