Concerts & Lectures is
sponsoring a poster contest in support of Earth Day. If
you go to this web site you will see all of the
information regarding this. We will be offering prizes of
$100.00 first place, $75.00 second place and $50.00 third
place for the best poster display. Ideas must be
submitted by Friday, April 9th, but you have
until Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, to actually complete
your project. The posters will be judged and then donated
(if you agree) to the local schools or environmental

Car/Van Changes
We have made some changes in
vehicle numbering and locations. Cars only (renumbered 1
- 8) are located in the current and/or existing garage
where they have been forever. The vans (renumbered 9 -
11) are now located in the building to the north and east
of Kiser. There are numbers on the doors and a garage key
is needed to open the doors electrically. It is important
to always close the doors, especially where the vans are
located, because of all the items stored in the building.
Sharon will try to inform those that are affected by
number changes. It would make sense to double check
numbers if you have a car or van scheduled during the
next month.

Week of the Young Child
UMC Children's Center invites
you to celebrate "Week of the Young Child,"
April 18-24, 1999.
From the NDAEYC (North Dakota
Association for the Education of Young Children)
"Good-quality early childhood programs promote
children's active learning and development in child care,
preschools, kindergartens, and primary grades.
"Characteristics include:
- Small groups of children
with sufficient numbers of adults to provide the
attention that young children need and deserve;
- Qualified adults whose
specialized preparation in early childhood
education enables them to understand how
children grow and learn and how to provide
learning environments that are individually,
developmentally, and culturally appropriate;
- An environment that offers interesting
and challenging things to do and that fosters
all areas of development--cognitive, language,
social, emotional, and physical;
- Staff whose compensation
reflects their qualifications and
responsibilities and who are encouraged to seek
ongoing professional development; and
- Programs with adequate
resources to recruit and retain qualified
staff and provide services at a price that
families can afford."
