New Garbage Service
Effective January 4 Regional Sanitation has been picking up garbage from the dumpsters on campus. Following are some of the requirements and concerns for everyone to follow:

Please:

  • Only burnable garbage allowed in dumpsters
  • Keep lids closed so debris does not blow around
  • Cut or fold cardboard boxes flat to increase space in dumpsters
  • Do not stack garbage around dumpsters
  • No personal garbage (fines may be levied)

Note for Departments: If you are having work done by other than University personnel, the disposal of garbage generated from those projects must be part of the contractor’s bid.

Thank you for your cooperation.
--Kent Freberg

New Visitor Parking Permits
New UMC Visitor Parking Permits are now available from Debi Brule in the Chancellor’s Office. These permits, with the updated campus map on the back, are red in color. The February 1997 visitor parking permits were yellow. These have the 1996 UMC campus map on the back. People having a supply of these permits should use these up within the next several months. Older visitor permits should be discarded. These permits have outdated campus maps and could be confusing for campus visitors.

Dissertation Abstracts
The UMC Library is now subscribing to Dissertation Abstracts. This database consists of more than 1.5 million entries for information about doctoral dissertations and master's theses. The database includes citations for material ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester; those published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts.

Dissertation Abstracts can be accessed at: http://www.umcrookston.edu/library/databases.htm

Please contact me if you have any questions or problems.
