HOLIDAY PENNY DRIVE
The UMC Student Ambassadors will once again set up the "Holiday Penny Drive" in the Sahlstrom Conference Center entrance December 9-12 and 15-18, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day. Funds collected go to The Care and Share Center to assist that organization in its important role as a shelter for homeless persons in our area.

Sister Justina's Care and Share Center has received national and state recognition for the quality of the services delivered to the people it serves, and has been a designated site for service learning experiences on our campus. Last year, students and staff contributed $164 to the fund. That translates into food purchasing power for The Care and Share Center of more than $1600!

Dr. Michael Harrington, an economist concerned with the economics of poverty, stated that the majority of Americans are one serious illness or accident away from the reality of homelessness. If you haven't had the opportunity to reflect on the significance of that statement, this Holiday Season might be your opportunity to do so.

Join others on campus in contributing to this important work.
--Andrew Svec, Laurie Wilson and the UMC Student Ambassadors
