FACULTY/STAFF FUND DRIVE UPDATE
WE MADE IT -- THANKS TO YOU!!!
As of Tuesday, May 26, 1998, 49 faculty/staff/administrators have made gifts and pledges of $21,214 to surpass our goal for 1998-99! It is great to see so many faculty, staff and administrators show their support of UMC and its programs. Thanks to each of you.

The Development Office Thank You party on May 19 was well attended with good food, good drinks and good friendship. Our thanks to Kent for grilling and to all of you who helped celebrate with us.

Remember, if you are contributing to a current pledge, your payroll deduction form should be signed and returned to our office. If you have not turned in your gift or pledge, it's not too late to show your support of UMC.
--Del Roelofs

On June 25th at 4:30 p.m., the University will be honoring 300 civil service and bargaining unit employees from all campuses who will be celebrating 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years of service. The University will be recognizing these long-term employees with a traditional gala reception at the St. Paul Student Center. If you are one of the employees who is celebrating this important milestone in your career or if you would like to attend, contact Les Johnson at 8345 or Jacquie Normandin at 8325 and we will help schedule the use of a UMC vehicle and provide support.

VISITATIONS TO COMMUNITIES
Making a visit to rural Minnesota this summer can be a lot of fun. We hope that you will be able to join us on as many trips as you would like. The UMC Bulletin of May 21 included an attachment indicating the schedule of dates for travel for the various communities. Please refer to that green sheet and give us a listing of the days that you can go with us. Our hope is to take a van of 4 to 6 people on each trip.

At each location, we will be providing coffee and cookies for all people in attendance. We have issued special invitations to the news media, extension staff, local officials and alumni from the area. We plan to take laptop computers along for hands-on demonstrations. We are even planning to do a brief survey involving only 5 questions. Those questions will pertain to how UMC is perceived in each of the communities.

Our goals include gaining information as to the attitude toward and opinion of UMC, helping to clarify UMC's image, affect recruiting of students indirectly through bringing the University to the community, and receive public exposure through local media.

We know we will encounter flaws in this campaign, but we will always be able to make adjustments in our process.

Please take a moment right now to see if there are some times you can give us for this project. Thanks for your support.
