"TAKE BACK THE NIGHT" EVENT
The UMC Sexual Assault Prevention Committee, in collaboration with the Violence Intervention Project, is sponsoring the first "Take Back the Night" March and Rally in Crookston on Thursday, April 30th, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Crookston High School Commons.

The TBTN rally will feature brief presentations from a variety of speakers including Reverend Bonita Orr of the Methodist Church and Senator Roger Moe. Additionally, there will be musical selections and readings from our students, survivors of violence and a group from UND. Following the initial program at the High School Commons, participants will walk to Central Park and gather around a bonfire for concluding remarks, music and a meditation.

See the TBTN attachment in this week's bulletin for more information.
--Laurie Wilson

JUNIOR HIGH MUSIC FESTIVAL
The second annual Junior High Music Festival will take place on Thursday, April 30, in Lysaker Gymnasium, Kiehle Auditorium, and other locations on campus. There will be over 400 junior high students from Ada-Borup, Climax, Fisher, Red Lake Falls, Win-E-Mac, Plummer, and Oklee participating at this event which includes individual band and choir performances and the "mega-band" that features 250 junior high students playing the same piece of music at the same time under the direction of East Grand Forks retired band director Wally Selmanson! This event was successful last year and is being repeated at the request of several area music teachers. I thank the Arts and Sciences Division for their support by making funds available to partially support this project.
--George French

STUDENT SATISFACTON SURVEY COMING
Students will be provided the opportunity to indicate their satisfaction (or lack of it!) with a variety of UMC services and programs when completing the Student Satisfaction Survey. The survey will ask students' opinion on a variety of topics including: academic advising, dining services, financial aid, parking, personal security/safety, bookstore, concern for students as individuals, residence hall rules and regulations and many more services and programs! The survey will be administered via the web the last week in April.
--Bob Nelson

ANNUAL EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS
University of Minnesota policy requires that supervisors conduct a performance appraisal for each Civil Service and AFSCME Union employee at least once each year. Within a few days, UMC's Office of Human Resources will forward performance appraisal forms to supervisors on campus. The form has been designed to be used as a tool to identify each employee's strengths, weaknesses, and suggested areas for improvement. Thoughtful feedback is one way supervisors can demonstrate that we care about an employee's work and that we value him/her as an important part of UMC's campus community.

Both employees and supervisors are encouraged to work together to review the job description and discuss critical incidents that have occurred during the last twelve months. Completed performance appraisal forms should be returned to the Office of Human Resources, 121A Selvig Hall, before May 22nd. Thank you for your efforts in this important personnel procedure. If you have any questions or if you need clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me at 8345 or e-mail at ljohnson.
--Les Johnson
