HIGHWAY 2 CLOSING DURING SNOW EMERGENCIES
Attached to this Bulletin is a letter from Polk County
Sheriff Doug Qualley regarding the closing of Highway 2 during
snow emergencies.

PRE-RETIREMENT SEMINAR
Reminder that the Pre-Retirement Seminar will be held today,
2 to 4 p.m., 128 Dowell Hall and again from 5 to 7 p.m., 133
Kiehle Hall. All Civil Service employees are encouraged to attend
both Session I and Session II which will be held on January 29.

RAGAMALA DANCE COMPANY ON CAMPUS
Ragamala Music and Dance Theater, a troupe combining
classical dance, music, poetry, and visual arts of India, will
perform in Crookston during the week of January 20-24. The troupe
is performing as part of the Arts Across Minnesota grant program.
Ragamala plans to work with humanities, social studies, and
international studies classes at Crookston High School and at
UMC.
Two performances in Crookston include: Sand Painting of India (which was on Tuesday, January 20th in Bede Ballroom.)
A performance of "Return of the Rain
Seed" will be Saturday January 24, 7:30 p.m. in Crookston
High School Auditorium. Ticket price: Adults $5, Students $3,
with preschoolers free.

UMC TEAMBACKERS FUN NITE
UMC Teambackers Fun Nite will be Saturday, January 31, from 6
to midnight at the Crookston Armory. Grand prizes include: 1st
of $1,000, 2nd of $500, plus additional prizes valued
at more than $5,000 will be drawn between 7 p.m. and midnight.
Tickets are $30 which includes the meal, chance at over $5,000 in
prizes and cash, and gaming all night. Proceeds go to UMC
Athletic Scholarships. For tickets call the White House at 8438.

AG-ARAMA
Ag-Arama, the annual winter competitive and fun event at UMC,
will be held Friday and Saturday, January 30 and 31, at the
University Teaching and Outreach Complex. The mech-ag-athon will
be held January 23 in Owen Hall.
The schedule of events is as follows: Friday, January 23 -- mechanized agriculture. Friday, January 30 -- ag aviation, agronomy and horticulture contests on the UMC campus. Saturday, January 31 -- beginning at 8 a.m. is when all of the "fun " activities open to everyone are held. These include: three-legged race, broom-barrel race, egg toss, match splitting, log chopping, cross-cut saw race, seed spitting contest, bat race, bale toss, cow milking contest, pole toss, tug-o-war, pie eating contest and other games. Other activities on Saturday include: animal science showmanship and ag industry show; natural resources contests; noon luncheon; coronation of Ag-Arama royalty; crop show; Ag-Arama finals and awards; and a volleyball tournament for alumni.
The event will end with an Ag-Arama dance at
the VFW in Crookston from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Saturday evening.

UMC INSIGHT
UMC Insight will be aired Saturday, January 24, at 8:45 a.m.
on KROX (AM 1260). Tune in this week to hear "It's a New
Year" with Maxine Rasmussen.
