PRIDE DAY COFFEE BREAK
Friday, November 8, the Counseling and Career Center will sponsor a Pride Day coffee and cookie break. It will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Counseling Career Center, Bede 113. Everyone is welcome.

VETERANS' DAY
UMC students will present a Veterans' Day Commemoration on Monday, November 11, at 12 noon in the UMC Conference Center entrance. There will be a flag ceremony, short address, and procession to the memorial at the UMC entrance. All faculty and staff are invited.

CHOLESTEROL SCREENING
Polk County Nursing will be on campus Tuesday, November 12, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. in Conference Center 131 doing cholesterol screenings. Students, faculty and staff are all welcomed. Students can get their cholesterol level checked FREE of charge; all others will be charged $6. Blood pressure checks will also be done during that same time. NW MN CIVIC HEALTH CONFERENCE
The Northwest Minnesota Civic Health Conference will be held at UMC on Friday, November 15. The Conference is a bipartisan, grass-roots outgrowth of several months of planning by Minnesota Extension Service and UMC Office of Outreach and Continuing Education, along with community focus group members. Attached is a detailed schedule of the Conference.

THANKSGIVING PROGRAM
A Thanksgiving program will be held on Monday, November 18, 7 p.m., in the Hafslo Church, sponsored by Campus Ministry and the UMC Music Department. A special guest, Sister Pat Murphy OSJ, will speak.

CANADA-U.S. FULBRIGHT PROGRAM
The Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program announced that it has received support from the Manitoba Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism, the International Institute for Sustainable Development, and the Red River Trade Corridor for a Fulbright Scholarship to a Canadian bound for study or research at the University of Minnesota, Crookston and a Fulbright Scholarship to an American bound for study or research at the University of Winnipeg.

The scholarships are open to American and Canadian graduate students researching strategies, and policies leading to sustainable economic and social development in the Red River region of the Great Northern Plains. The award recipients will be enrolled either as a student or as a visiting researcher at their host university. The award consists of a fixed sum of $15,000 US for a full academic year (nine months).

The date for Christmas Fest has been set for Thursday night, December 19. We would have preferred a weekend date, but other conflicts...what a busy place. If you wish to be a part of the planning committee, please contact Gary Willhite or Peg Sherven.

PARKING
Parking is not permitted on streets, in loading zones or in any spaces other than those designated in the nine parking lots. Parking in the Ag Research Center parking lots by UMC students/staff is not permitted as this is part of the Northwest Experiment Station. Also, overnight parking is allowed only in D, G and E Lots.

Also, Lot D has an area restricting overnight parking during these
winter months; please observe the posted signs. Thank you.

CS/BU EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER AWARD
Attached to this Bulletin is a nomination form for the fall CS/BU Employee of the Quarter. Please take a few moments to consider your nominee and return the form to me by Thursday, November 21. CONGRATULATIONS TO MARY BYWATER!
Mary Bywater has announced her retirement effective December 31, 1996. With 17 years of excellent service to UMC, Mary will be greatly missed. Mary is a key part of the Business Office team, and we wish her well with her retirement plans. GOOD LUCK MARY!

The position of "accounts payable specialist" has been posted both internally and externally.

Thursday - Swiss mushroom burger and curly fries $3.50
Friday - Grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup $2.50
