FLOOD CLEANUP VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
There have been many people interested in helping clean up after the flood but were unsure
how to go about making the proper contact. The telephone numbers for the United Way of
East Grand Forks and Grand Forks for individuals who would like to help with the cleanup
in those communities are: 1-701-787-7653 or 1-701-787-7640. Phones are staffed from 9 a.m.
to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The West Polk County Extension Office is also going to try and
coordinate volunteers who would like to help the rural residents outside the city limits
with their clean up, machinery repair, spring field work and crop planting. We have
volunteered to try and match people needing help with people who would like to help. If
you know of people willing to help, please call Russ Severson at 281-8695 or Marlene
LeBlanc at 281-8696 or 1-800-450-1751.

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION
Registration is just around the corner. The dates for the New Student Registration are May
27, 28, 29, 30, June 6, and July 25. This year we will have a late day registration that
will start at 11 a.m. and will end at around 4:30 p.m. The date for this is May 29th.
On all the other days, registration will begin at 8 a.m. and will end at around 2:30 p.m.
This is an exciting time because we get to see the new faces for the
class of 1998. If you can stop by and welcome them in Brown Dining Hall at 9:30 a.m.
(early schedule) and at 12:30 p.m. (Thursday, May 29), I think it would make quite an
impression on these new students and their parents. The complete schedules for New Student
Registration are attached to this edition of the bulletin.

VIDEO TAPES TO HELP ASSIST FLOOD VICTIMS
Kiehle Library has received two video tapes from FEMA to help assist the victims of recent
flooding in Minnesota and North Dakota. "Flood RecoveryHelp for
Individuals" is a 15-minute production designed to give an overview of the various
types of federal and state assistance made available to disaster survivors by the
Presidential disaster declaration.
"After the Flood" is a 30-minute flood recovery video prepared for victims of recent flooding in southern Ohio, but equally valuable for Minnesota flood survivors. Segments include information on safely re-entering homes, cleaning damaged property, housing repair and rebuilding, and pet needs during and after a disaster.
These videos can be checked out at the library or may be viewed in one
of the librarys study rooms.
