COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW SCHEDULED FOR DON SARGEANT, CHANCELLOR
In accordance with University of Minnesota policy, President Nils Hasselmo has appointed a review committee to collect and evaluate information concerning Don Sargeant, Chancellor of UMC. The review will cover the years 1992-1997. Members of the comprehensive review committee are:

WINE TASTING
UMC faculty, staff, and interested students over age 21 are invited to taste wines from various countries and varietals, with discussion on wine selection and matching wine with food. The wine tasting is scheduled Wednesday, April 16, at 7 p.m., in Brown Dining Room. There is no charge, and proof of legal drinking age is required.

The wine tasting is by reservation only. Please contact Vern Markey at 8203 or e-mail vmarkey. Reservations from students must be received by April 11; after this date, spaces will be open to UMC faculty and staff and the community to make reservations. This event is sponsored by Concerts and Lectures, UMC Dining Services, and the HRI Department.

UMC COMMISSION ON WOMEN SEMINAR
"How America’s Schools Cheat Girls" by Myra and David Sadker, book discussion, will be presented Thursday, April 17, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. in Conference Center ABC. Leading authorities discuss gender equality in education including subtle forms of gender bias and the invisibility of women in the curriculum. (Several copies of the book are available in Kiehle Library.)

Bring your own lunch. UMC’s Commission on Women will have cappuccino and other specialty drinks, an assortment of desserts, and fruit.

GRANT LIBRARY RESOURCE CENTER
The Crookston Public Library is one of four regional libraries to house a new Grant Library Resource Center. A grant from the Northwest Minnesota Initiative Fund supported the creation of this resource, and now they are offering training workshops in its use. If you have an interest in securing sponsored funding or if you have a specific project in mind but don’t know where to start looking for support, you’ll want to mark these workshops on your calendars.

Session I & II, Friday, April 18, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Session III & IV, Friday, May 16, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

ENTOMOLOGY SEMINAR SERIES
The Northwest Experiment Station, UMC and the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment Sciences are in the process of filling a joint appointment in entomology to be based here in Crookston. Each candidate will present a seminar during her or his visit. All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend. Interested faculty are further invited to bring their classes to any or all of the seminars. Contact Richard Nelson (8100) or Carlyle Holen (8691) for further information.

All seminars will be at 10 a.m. in the ARC Auditorium.
