COMEDIAN TO APPEAR AT UMC
Comedian Jennie McNulty will appear at UMC on Thursday, April 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in Morsels. McNulty is not the stereotypical comic. Unlike most women who talk about feminine subjects, McNulty gets into sports. She loves sports, and you will benefit from her bright and timely material, much of it related to sports.

NW MN HOSPITALITY CONFERENCE ON APRIL 21
Hospitality is the topic for a regional conference scheduled 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, April 21, at the Northland Inn in Crookston. Speakers, workshops, and exhibits will make for an interesting day of learning. Especially invited are people involved in hospitality businesses including cafes, restaurants, resorts, and chambers of commerce.

Topics on the conference agenda include customer service, menu pricing, and controlling costs. Other workshops will focus on food safety and current legislation affecting the hospitality business.

The conference is sponsored by UMC, the Minnesota Extension Service, the University Tourism Center, and the Minnesota Office of Tourism. Workshop topics were identified by a survey of cafes and restaurants conducted last summer by faculty at UMC and funded by a grant from the Northwest Minnesota Initiative Fund. Conference registration is $10, including lunch. To register, call the Office of University Outreach at 281-8681.

COMPUTER POLICY CHANGE
As of April 1st, the Computer Center will be charging $20 per hour to repair machines with user-induced damages. User-induced damages are those where no warranty reimbursement is available, as in beverage spills or other situations where the computer has been dropped. Typically, a pop spill takes two hours to repair, so your STARS account or department would be charged $40.

WARNING—Another computer has been stolen from the Brown Dining Center. Please refrain from leaving your computer bags outside while you’re eating. If more computers are stolen from this area, it is possible that you will end up paying for the entire computer rather than just the $500 deductible. This type of theft is preventable.

QUESTION—Would you take the time to use lockers if they were the fee-paying type like you see at airports? Please e-mail psherven with your thoughts on how to rectify this problem. Thanks.
--Peg Sherven
