SPAIN TOPIC FOR UMC INTERNATIONAL SERIES
"Spain and the Basque Country: A Rich Heritage"
will be presented by Asier Larrea, UMC student from the Basque
Country, on Monday, March 31, as part of UMC's International
Series. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with an ethnic dinner for
$7, followed by a 7 p.m. program in Brown Dining Room of the UMC
Conference Center. To reserve a place at the dinner, call 8586.

BRIAN MILLER NAMED ASSISTANT COACH
Brian Miller, an assistant coach at Northern State
University, Aberdeen, SD, was named offensive football
coordinator/assistant baseball coach at UMC. Brian succeeds
Shannon Currier who served as an assistant coach from August 1995
through January 1997.

PRO-BASEBALL LECTURE ON ORAL CANCER
Former pro-baseball player Bill Tuttle, will give a free
lecture on oral cancer, Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. in Bede
Ballroom.

SVEDARSKY RECEIVES HORACE T. MORSE AWARD
Congratulations to Dan Svedarsky on receiving the Horace T.
Morse-University of Minnesota Alumni Award for Outstanding
Contributions to Undergraduate Education. It is indeed an honor.
He is the first faculty member from UMC to receive this award.
Dan has enhanced not only his academic standing but that of UMC
also. We share in Dan's pride and thank him for his commitment to
exemplary undergraduate education. The award will be presented
April 28.

PRE-RETIREMENT PLANNING SEMINAR
The University of Minnesota will conduct the 1997
Pre-retirement Planning Seminar for faculty, professional, and
administrative staff at the Coffman Memorial Union on the Twin
Cities campus from 2:30 to 4:40 p.m. on April 1, 8, 15, and 29.
Due to logistical difficulties, the Twin Cities campus will not
be able to broadcast these sessions to the UMC campus via ITV.
Robert Fahnhorst has agreed to mail an audio tape copy of the
presentation, handouts, and copies of the overhead slides for
each presentation to UMC's Office of Human Resources. If you are
interested in these presentations but are unable to attend the
workshops, you may call me at 8345 and check out the audio tape
and program materials.

GUIDELINES FOR USE OF AAC
Guidelines for the use of the Academic Assistance Center
(AAC) as an alternative test administration site are attached.
Please review the guidelines carefully and assist AAC staff in
providing quality testing accommodations.
