AG-ARAMA SET FOR UMC
Ag-Arama, UMC's annual winter competitive and fun event, will be held Friday and
Saturday, January 24 and 25, at the University Teaching and Outreach Complex. Student
chairs are: Julie Schermerhorn, from New York Mills, MN, and Melissa Myron from Elbow
Lake. All faculty and staff are invited to join in the competition and fun.

IN MEMORY OF MARTIN LUTHER KING
This celebration will take place on Tuesday, January 28, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Bede
Ballroom. Please bring your thoughts of Martin Luther King's message, and share them with
the audience. There will be a maximum of 3 minutes for
everyone who wants to share his/her thoughts. All are cordially invited.

NEW GRADUATE PROGRAMS OFFERED AT UMC
New graduate programs offered at UMC are: (1) Master of Education Degree in Human
Resource Development offered by the Department of Work, Community, and Family Education,
part of the College of Education at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus, and
(2) Master of Education Degree in Cross-Disciplinary Study of Young Children and Families,
part of the College of Education and Human Service Professions at the University of
Minnesota Duluth Campus. For more information or to register call the Outreach and

EQUINE CONFERENCE AT UMC
The Northwest Minnesota Equine Conference will be held at UMC Friday, January 31, and
Saturday, February 1. Events begin Friday at 5:30 p.m. with registration, social hour
"with Hearty Western Style Hors d'oeuvres" and exhibits. The Conference
concludes Saturday afternoon with a public forum on Equine Infectious Anemia. For more

FACULTY PUBLISH
Mark Huglen recently published a book review article in the following journal:
"The Electronic Journal of Communication/ La Revue Electronique de
Communication," Volume 6, Number 1, 1996. The name and author of the reviewed book is
as follows: "Zen in the Art of Rhetoric: An Inquiry into Coherence" by Mark
Lawrence McPhail. The journal may be accessed on the WWW at:
