Alternative Testing Related to Disability/Information
It has always been our practice to attempt to administer exams to students with disabilities at the same time as the other students in the classroom are completing that exam. There may be occasions when we need to request your permission to stagger the test times somewhat since we have lost one test room in Owen 270 to an office this year, and periodically lose space due to the construction project and to leaking roofs!  Please bear with us. We cannot put a student in a testing situation that is crowded or unpleasant, or they may be adversely affected.  If we have to delay an exam due to space shortage or other issues, we will notify you as soon as possible with an alternative time proposed that is as close to the original test time as possible, and that has appropriate supervision or support. This situation should be resolved next year when the Student Center opens.  Thank you for your cooperation.
--Laurie Wilson, UMC Counseling and Disability Services

Barbary Coast Dixieland Band to perform as part of the Crookston Artist Series on Thursday, September 30, 2004 at 7:30 p.m.  “Not just another band, but a complete stage show” describes each performance by the Barbary Coast Dixieland Band.  Not only is the music performed by the special sextet sensational, they also punctuate each performance with whim, wit and zany comedy, incredible vocals, and a variety of special novelty numbers which add seasoning to each well blended concert.  You don’t want to miss this performance.

The Rolling Plains Art Gallery will be in Crookston at the American Federal Bank parking lot September 29 through October 4, 2004.  Identity and Vision in Minnesota and North Dakota is a new exhibition created for the Rolling Plains Art Gallery.  It reflects a search for beauty and inspiration with images that portray cultural traditions and heritage as well as the social, political and economic issues of the day.  The artwork offers an engaging view of our connections to the place we call home from the perspective of 31 contemporary artists from the two states.  The exhibition includes painting, sculpture, decorative arts, printmaking, photography and computer-generated art.  The gallery is the signature outreach program of the Plains Art Museum in Fargo, ND, and is housed in a 48-foot semi-trailer.  Each school year, the gallery alternately tours the states of Minnesota and North Dakota.  The Rolling Plains Art Gallery will be available for public viewing September 29 and 30 and October 1 and 4 from 3 to 7 p.m., and October 2 and 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
