Kimberlee
to Perform September 8
Kimberlee, Singer/Songwriter
and Recording Artist, will perform Wednesday, September 8 at 8 p.m. in
the Eagles Nest in the Sahlstrom Conference Center. A recent quote
from CBS TV Morning News reports about Kimberlee’s live performance,
“Fabulous…goose bumps to my skin…Wow! Blown away…She’s a real talent,
you’re gonna love this!”
Kimberlee is a
nationally touring artist who has performed coast to coast. Kimberlee
and her soulfully charged band know how to get the place jumpin’.
Trained by the same vocal coach who taught Janis Joplin, Lydia Pense of
Coldblood, Steve Perry and Journey, Grace Slick and Jefferson Starship,
En Vogue, and countless others, Kimberlee belts out an unforgettable
soulful sound that rocks!
Everyone is invited to
this W.O.W. (What’s on Wednesday) event. For more information, see <www.kimberleemusic.com>.

Purchasing
Goods and Services
Policy Statement
Needed goods and services will be identified, selected and acquired
as economically as possible according to specified standards of quality
and service, while giving responsible suppliers fair consideration.
This should be done in a timely and organized manner that provides for
the accountability of University expenditures and compliance with all
applicable restrictions imposed by funding sources and legislative
bodies. When it is to the advantage of the University, bids will be
taken. Normally, purchases exceeding $10,000 from NON-contract vendors
or $100,000 from contract vendors will be bid by Purchasing Services.
All purchases must
comply with State laws, Federal laws and guidelines, University policy
and the University of Minnesota Purchasing Code of Ethics.
Reason for Policy
This policy is necessary to ensure appropriate stewardship of
University assets, integrity when acquiring goods and services, and
accountability to funding sources.

VolunTEAM
Update

Friend/Mentor: A mentally
challenged woman who lives in Fosston is socially isolated and needs a
companion to do things with, like going bowling, going out for meals or
movies, etc. For more information, please contact Michal Jorgens, PsyD,
LP, at 218-281-3940 or
mjorgens@nwmhc.org.
Meals on Wheels:
Each year UMC participates three times in the Meals on Wheels program.
Our first opportunity to deliver meals this year is the week of
September 13. I am looking for 6 drivers each day. Meals on Wheels is
a volunteer organization that provides approximately 50 meals a day to
residents in Crookston. By providing a healthy lunch, this program
allows many local residents to remain in their homes longer.
Drivers need to be at
Riverview Hospital at 11:30 a.m. Meals are to be picked up at the
Education Entrance on the back side of the hospital. Each route takes
approximately 30 minutes. You should be back to UMC by 12:15 p.m. If
you’re concerned about having difficulty finding the houses, don’t’
worry! Maps and very explicit directions are included. Grab a friend
and do the route together!
If you are interested
in participating, either stop by the Dowell Hall Info Desk and sign up,
or contact me by phone or email, and I’d be very happy to sign you up!

Community
Events
Crookston will be one of the
communities along Highway 75 to participate in the second annual King
of Trails Marketplace, scheduled for Saturday, September 11. The
King of Trails is the designation given by the state of Minnesota
in 2001 to Highway 75. Billed as “400 miles of great bargains from the
Canadian border to the Iowa border,” the King of Trails marketplace is
expected to generate much attention and publicity all along the route.
Organizers are seeking vendors with arts and crafts, antiques,
collectibles, fresh produce, flowers, books, furniture, as well as flea
market and garage sale items. The Crookston Marketplace will be located
in the Bremer Bank parking lot at Broadway and Third. The Marketplace
will be held outdoors from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. In case of
dangerous weather conditions, the marketplace will be at the Civic
Arena.
