University
Compliance Update January 27
You may be aware that Tom
Schumacher, the University’s Director of Institutional Compliance, will
be on campus this coming Thursday, January 27, 2005. Over the past few
years, Mr. Schumacher has led the effort at the University to develop a
framework for assessing key risk areas and for defining specific
compliance program responsibility within the organization. The purposes
of his visit to Crookston are to introduce the framework to us, to
explain each of our roles, to provide training and to answer any
questions we may have on compliance at the University and at UMC. Tom
will meet with several groups on campus during his brief visit.
I am pleased to invite
you to an introductory update Thursday, January 27. The update will be
held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Selvig 308. During this hour, Tom will
discuss risk, introduce the University’s compliance framework and even
provide a HIPPA (privacy) refresher for us. I am so pleased Tom is
making this visit to UMC, and hope you will join me in welcoming him.

Winter
Parking
During the winter, after the
first initial snowfall and removal, the paint that marks parking spots
and illegal spots becomes hard to see. Because of this, we are asking
you to please pay attention to the following rules:
-
No parking in front
of stairways (stay at lease 3 inches wide on each side)
-
No parking in front
of any handicapped ramps or entrances (including the one east
of the Early Childhood Development Center)
-
No parking to block
any fire hydrants (stay at least 5 feet wide on each side)
-
No parking to block
any sidewalks (stay at least 5 inches wide on each side)
Also, please be
respectful of any spots marked with a handicapped sign. Please be sure
to leave enough room for a vehicle to part at each handicapped sign
(4 feet wide). Any vehicle found disobeying the parking rules will be
subject to ticketing and towing. Thanks for your cooperation in making
winter parking better.
