Undergrad
Continuing Education
In the next couple of weeks there
are three events that you may want to alert your students to. At these
events students attending will be issued certificates of attendance.
Students can use these certificates to document their attendance for
class use and/or use them to start a portfolio that will help them
document their own learning. This is a process we hope to continue into
next semester and next year.
As we begin more and more conversations
about self directed learning and the use of portfolios, faculty
encouragement of attendance and faculty involvement in the reflection on
these activities is crucial. I hope all of you will consider how these
activities can enhance and enliven student learning on the campus and in
your classes.

Thank You
Thanks
so much to all those who were able to donate blood at UMC's first blood
drive of the academic year. It was a huge success! United Blood
Services was able to collect 53 units of blood that day! A new record
high for UMC! Again, on behalf of the Student Athletic Advisory
Committee and Student Health, a very sincere thank you to each and every
one of you who were able to contribute to this important event. We hope
to see all of you at the next blood drive which is Tuesday, February 5,
2002.
