Employee Benefits Info Session October 12
Vic Fickling, University of Minnesota Benefits Counselor, will be on the UMC campus on Friday, October 12, to help you with retirement planning and answer any questions you may have regarding the University’s open enrollment period.

Open Enrollment 2001

Informational Session

DATE:                Friday, October 12, 2001
TIME:                 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
LOCATION:        Sahlstrom Conference Center 131

You are encouraged to attend this session so that you understand your options during this year’s open enrollment period.  Vic will make a brief presentation and will leave time to answer any questions you may have.  Feel free to bring your lunch or purchase a lunch and bring it to the meeting.  In addition, you may call Jackie at 8325 or Les at 8345 if you would like to schedule an individual meeting with Vic on October 12 to discuss any specific retirement or benefit questions you may have.  Individual meetings will be held in 305 Selvig Hall.
--Les Johnson, Director of Human Resources

Club Advisors
All club advisors have the authority to send out campus wide emails for items that are of interest to the entire student body.  If your group is involved in something that the entire campus should be notified of, you can send out the notice on behalf of your club by pulling up the Student distribution list on email.  I would ask that you use your discretion on this.  As a rule, general notices about club meetings would not be the type of thing that the whole campus should be notified of.  Instead, you should set up an individual club email distribution for these types of notices.
--Pam Holsinger-Fuchs, Director of Student Activities and Service Learning

IHSA President to Visit UMC October 11-14
Bob Cacchione, founder and executive president of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA), will be attending our hunt seat shows the weekend of October 13 and 14, 2001.  He will be flying in on Thursday, October 11.  Friday night we will have a pizza get-together with the students, and he will show the ESPN story on IHSA to our team and to the Horsemen's Association.  With this being our first year having an NCAA team, this will be an especially great time for some dialogue with Bob about how other regions and zones in the country are handling this.  In the four years since we've taken part in this region and been President College, this is the first time that Bob will be attending one of our shows.
--Melissa Hower-Moritz, Associate Professor of Equine Science

National Depression Screening Day October 22
Depression affects millions of people every year and is often left untreated or ignored. Learn more. Get help.  Give hope.  Be well!

UMC will serve as a site for National Depression Screening Day on Monday, October 22, from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. in Sahlstrom Conference Center 131.  Faculty who wish to assign or encourage attendance related to a class activity are asked to direct students to the 4:30 general session.  A second informational opportunity is scheduled for 6:00 with individual meeting opportunities to follow.  Staff from Northwestern Mental Health Center will conduct the informational sessions and the confidential free screenings that follow.  If you have questions, please contact Stacey Grunewald in Student Health or Laurie Wilson in Counseling.  Advance registration is not required.

Lock your vehicles … another permit was stolen this week!
