CMyU was designed as a virtual desktop—an adaptive desktop which can be customized and personalized by you. CMyU enables you to connect quickly to and navigate this easy to use virtual desktop from any computer on the Internet. The CMyU desktop uses a start button and menu control organized by groups, and CMyU controls to manage desktop and channels.
CMyU Channels, windows of content that may be added to this virtual desktop, are made up of web pages from the existing UMC website, from other internet sites, and special web pages for UMC services and sources of information. A channel can be created for any Internet site you choose. Sample CMyU Channels:

Johnsmith and Chasing Elvis to Perform April 17 Student Services
Technology Teleconference Student services have become a strategic issue for institutions that seek to improve retention and stay competitive. Colleges and universities are challenged to know their students' expectations and design a student services model that's attuned to student needs as well as the institution's culture and values. Finding the appropriate blend of "high touch" and "high tech" has become especially critical, given the importance of Web strategies to most student services models today. This program, a follow-up to the popular Planning for Student Services: Best Practices for the 21st Century, introduces the topic of Web portals, interactive chats, and call centers needed to support Web services. You'll also hear about the lessons learned from one-stop centers, which are driving new facilities designs and defining new job functions for student services professionals. These lessons are also shaping the services delivered via the Web. Represented on the panel will be institutions from throughout North America that are recognized for their effective practices. Panelists will present case studies of their planning processes, showing how they've successfully integrated technology into their student services projects, redesigned processes, implemented change, and ultimately extended their brand.

April 23 Thousands of people are victimized each year because of their actual or perceived skin color, ethnicity, religion, gender, and/or sexual orientation. The US Federal Bureau of Investigation statistics show that schools and college campuses are the third most common place for hate crimes to occur. Due to such statistics and the fact that the majority of hate crimes are committed by young people, there is a pressing need for colleges and universities to take the lead in preventing hate behavior and creating a safe learning environment for all people. ITC Updates Sarah Riewer has taken a job close to her home since April 1. We will miss her excellent technology support and friendly help. A new link "Learning Interactives: Flash Learning Games" has been added on UMC's Technology Menu web page. This will make it easier for students at UMC to find the flash games they need for study. New Flash Games This Week: "Composition Terms" (by Adonica Schultz), "Seeds Games 2 & 3" (by Chuck Habstritt), "Plant Taxonomy" (by Phil Baird), and "Entrepreneurs" (by Rob Smith). Feel free to check them out! Seeds Interactive 3 CD has been released. A Flash demo (created by Ben Loll, Agronomy and ITM major) has been posted for the public to preview the new version as well as placing orders for the CD. See <www.umcrookston.edu/ag/seeds_demo/seeds_demo.html>. The latest version of Flash is out. It's called Flash MX. The ITC will be offering some in-depth workshops on Flash MX during summer. The next version of
WebCT (version 3.7) will include the
Equation Editor. This
may help faculty who design calculated questions for WebCT quizzing and
testing. More information will be provided as soon as we know when we
can participate in the trial period. St. Paul Chamber Orchestra
