| WebCT and Moodle
WebCT and Moodle are course
management system used at UMC. They are your "Online Classroom" for online UMC courses. When you login with your UMC Internet ID and password, you will see a link for each of the classes you are currently registered for. If the instructor uses WebCT or Moodle for their course, clicking on the name of the course will get you directly into the course. If the instructor does not use WebCT or Moodle for the course, clicking on the name of the course will direct you to a contact information page containing all the necessary course links and information available for your course.
Many instructors use WebCT and Moodle as their online classroom for students to take their tests, get assignments, review course materials, send email, participate in class discussions, interact with each other on an electronic bulletin board and many other class functions. Some instructors have created additional web pages or personal course management sites and do not use the WebCT and Moodle interface for the course work. In any event, you can get to all your courses through the MyU homepage.
Log into your courses using the U of M Course Portal
To access your UMC online courses, you can log into the MyU Portal using your Internet ID and password.
MyU is online at: http://www.myu.umn.edu.
Once there, log in by clicking the log in link in the upper right hand side of the page. You will be redirected to the log in site, asking you to input your Internet ID and Password. Once you log in, a message noting your success will appear in a popup window. You must keep this window open but can minimize it. You will now see the MyU homepage. Click on the tab labeled My Toolkit. You should now see all your Online Courses listed either under the WebCT or Moodle headings. You should never need to manually add a course. If you do not see your course, you are either not yet registered or your registration has not yet been in the system long enough for your course to appear automatically. Please contact our office if you feel your course should be listed. Students that are online students only, never logging in on the campus network, please note that your Email and Internet ID passwords will not be the same.
Be sure to SET UP YOUR BROWSER - You need to prepare your internet browser to work within WebCT for your online course. There is a link when you click into a WebCT course that will appear in the upper right hand corner. It says Check Browser. It will analyze your system and let you know what setting you will need to change, what plug-ins you will need to download, etc. to get the best results when using the WebCT course site. You can also go directly to http://www.webct.umn.edu/browser/ to Tune Up your browser.
