Why did you choose online with UMC?
I choose UMC because of its reputation. After researching other schools that offer on-line courses, it became obvious that UMC was the best choice. They had a broad base of classes offered, the tuition rates were very competitive and most importantly, I knew that a degree from UMC would be a well-respected degree. There are a lot of other fly-by-night schools that offer degrees, however, those schools are not always readily recognized as being top quality education.
What have you liked so far about your online experience?
Taking on-line courses have really been a winning situation for me. I have been able to continue to work full-time, participate in activities and take care of my family while still working towards completing my degree.
The staff at UMC has been great. If I have a question, they have always been helpful and responsive to my concerns. My advisor, Eric Burgess, has been the best! He has gone out of his way to help me to plan my courses, and to guide me in the right direction.
How do you see UMC helping you to reach your goals?
My focus when I decided to get my degree was to complete a lifetime goal that I had set for myself. I had always regretted never finishing college and earning a degree. As I watched my children graduating from high school and starting college, I knew it was time for me to do something important for myself. As I work towards completing my last few credits, I can look back and feel the satisfaction of achieving a goal that I have set for myself.
What have you learned about yourself and your online student experience with UMC? There is a great self-satisfaction of setting a goal and achieving it. I have realized that no matter how old a person, it is never too late to go back to school. The information presented in the classes is pertinent to the workplace. It has been interesting relating the presented information with real life applications.
What do you plan to do once you graduate and complete your online degree?
While I do not have any immediate plans, earning my degree from UMC will set me in a positive position to be able to take advantage of any challenging rewarding opportunities. Many of the best jobs require a degree before they will even consider you for hire. Having a degree in my hand from UMC can help me to be competitive at finding a great job!
