Consortium Agreements for Financial Aid:
Any students enrolled in UMC degree programs who are also taking approved courses from another college at the same time need to complete a Consortium Agreement in order to receive financial aid for classes at both institutions.
Click here to obtain a copy of the Agreement. Complete the student section and send it to the Financial Aid Office of the other college you are attending.
UMC must then receive and approve the Agreement to provide aid for the courses at the other college. If you are taking classes at more than one other college, you need a Consortium Agreement for each school. For example: If you are in a degree program at UMC and taking one class at Hennepin Technical College and another at Anoka Community College, you would need two separate Consortium Agreements.
NOTE: Simply listing UMC on your FAFSA is not going to provide financial aid for each colleges. If you have any questions please contact:

BERLAND GRANT
The grant provides a financial incentive for enrollment in academic college classes for adults who have been out of school for at least
five years. The objective is to encourage enrollment on-campus at UMC by first-time adult students and adults needing retraining.
The grant will pay tuition and fee’s for a maximum of four-credits for one semester and required textbook.

1. Must have been out of school (high school and/or college courses for credit) for a minimum of five years.
2. Must not be receiving other financial aid or receive tuition reimbursement from another source.
3. Must not have earned a baccalaureate degree.
4. Course must be academic (i.e., history, psychology, accounting, computer, etc.)
5. Course must be taken on-campus or online through UMC |
NATIONAL SMART GRANT
An eligible student may receive a National SMART Grant of $4,000 for each of the third (60-89 credits) and fourth (90+ credits) academic year of study. To be eligible for each academic year, a student must:
- Be a U.S. citizen;
- Be a Fed. Pell recipient;
- Be enrolled full-time in a degree program (12 credits);
- Be enrolled in a four-year degree granting institution;
- Major in physical, life or computer science, engineering, mathematics, technology or a critical foreign language; and
- Have at least a cum. 3.0 GPA in coursework required for the student’s major. (The U of MN system assumes all coursework is required for a student’s major.)
Dislocated Workers Benefits:
Training funds may be available to help individuals who have lost their jobs. These programs focus on upgrading current job skills, retraining workers whose skills are not marketable, and providing support services.
