Job Title:  Warehouse manager

Job Responsibilities:
Manager of chemical warehouse
Loading of airplanes

Summarize Your Experience:
My experience this summer was not that much different than other summers but I got to do two things this summer that I have never done before.  I did my first spraying in a plane, (the best).  I also ran the chemical warehouse.  A big responsibility but the experience was great.

What I liked about the job:
I liked the job because it was 110% of what my career is going to be like.

What I disliked about the job:
Really I can’t find anything that I didn’t like about the job because I loved it too much.

Areas that I need to learn more about:
I could use more training in the rates of chemicals, and the exact uses of them.

Matt Schanilec

Major:  Agricultural Aviation

Class:  Junior/Senior

Place of Employment: Sobolik
                                     Airspray

Address:   Pisek, ND  58237

Dates of Internship: May 8 – August 22

Name of Supervisor: Randy Sobolik

Phone Number: (701) 284 - 7711

Job Title:  Ground Loader

Job Responsibilities: Mixed chemicals, filled plane with chemical, fuel, oil and marking flags. Drove semi to a different location to cut back on ferry time with the airplane.

Summarize Your Experience:  Over the summer I learned a lot about measurements of chemicals, how to read chemical labels, and got a lot of advice from Randy about spraying and flying with airplanes

What I liked about the job:  I love being able to hang around the crop dusting environment.  Getting to be around planes was what I thought I wanted and now I know I want to be around them

What I disliked about the job:  My job was a day in day out the same.  I wanted to be flying the plane instead of watching it take off and land all day long.

Areas that I need to learn more about: I don’t think there were any areas that I need to learn more on.
