The UMC Advantage

growth chambers

UMC's program in Agronomy features several advantages and options that provide its high-caliber students with a career edge.

Class field trips include visits to farms, conditioning plants, and various agricultural businesses.

UMC students have many chances to compete in collegiate crops and soils contests, including the annual North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) competition.

The Agronomy Club offers students the opportunity to take part in many professional development activities and to network with current students and alumni.

Through a capstone seminar course and an internship field experience, UMC students obtain direct industry experience and make professional career contacts.

The flexibility of the program also allows students to prepare for graduate work in agronomy. Several UMC grads have gone on to pursue advanced degrees in agronomy and related sciences.

UMC's focus on technology allows students to develop the computer skills and experience with current technologies used in the agronomy industry.

The reputation of UMC's agronomy graduates draws several agriculture-related companies to the campus to interview students for job openings.
