The UMC Advantage

  • Students in the Ag Industries Club tour agricultural industry sites ranging from producer operations to equipment manufacturing and food processing plants. Visits to industry conferences and shows provide valuable ideas for the annual club sponsored Ag Industries Show. In addition to industry contacts, members develop leadership skills, social, and civic consciousness.
  • The UMC Advantage!UMC's low student/faculty ratio (15:1) fosters a climate of personalized attention to individual student strengths, interests, and needs. Coupled with UMC's practical "hands-on" approach to learning, this creates an environment that gives students the most opportunities for learning.
  • UMC's focus on technology allows students to develop the computer skills and experience with current technologies that is currently used in industry. There is also extensive training in computer applications for business decision-making.
  • UMC's partnership with the Agricultural Utilization and Research Institute (AURI) allows for opportunities to experience "actual" research, processing procedures, and entrepreneurial ag product development.
  • The required internship provides valuable work experience and industry networking prior to graduation.

Industry Involvement
UMC's Strategic plan includes the implimentation of Program Improvement Audit Committees (PIAC) to aid in the implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of each program.

The membership of the Ag Systems Management PIAC is comprised of people with diverse backgrounds and interests, including representatives from business, industrial, educational, and health organizations, as well as from the University faculty and students.
