Summarize Your
Experience:

My main responsibilities were to enforce the park rules such as quite hours especially on busy weekends, alcohol none is allowed inside Minnesota state parks, and permit violators.  I also helped staff the front office and occasionally ran it by myself.  I also did odd jobs around the park during slow times like hauling wood to the office, I cut grass, picked up litter, and road brushing.

What I liked most about
the job:

What helped me the most was I was able to work at Wild River for two summers.  My second summer I was able to get right to work I didn’t need hardly any training, the mistakes that I made the previous summer helped me out a lot because I was able to turn them into strengths and overall make me a better employee to Wild River.  I also love working outdoors, it beats working inside all day long.

Challenges on the job:

Working with the public is pretty hard, especially when you are the one they come to when they need help.  I learned to be patient with them and always try your best.  Also I worked independently most nights and sometimes would go two weeks without seeing my supervisor so I had to leave detailed notes to what I was doing so he knew I wasn’t slacking, it also made asking questions nearly impossible, But I managed to have a fun summer.
