Summarize Your
Experience:

My internship at the UMC stable was a valuable learning experience. I learned the hard work and responsibilities that it took to run a stable. I learned that there are things that you are going to like and there are things that you aren’t going to like but it all goes along with the job. There wasn’t a lot of time for riding but I was able to do some when there was time. It was mostly doing jobs to keep the facility up and getting ready for the winter, like hauling hay.

What I liked most about
the job:

I liked getting to work with the horses and getting to know each one of them a little better.

Challenges on the job:

The weather and bugs got to be a problem for me this summer. It got hot and humid when we were hauling hay which made it not so much fun. Also the bugs (mosquitoes and flies) got bad and made it hard to get the horses outside during the day. There was also a lot of day that I worked by myself in the barn.
