Program Requirements
Health Sciences: Pre-Professional Program Requirements (B.S.)
Degree Requirements: A total of 120 credits are required for graduation (43 credits study option core curriculum, 34 credits in chosen study option, 40 credits liberal education and 3 credits in technology). Students must complete 40 upper division credits.
Students work with their adviser to develop an individualized program of study that meets their health science educational goals (pre-chiropractic, pre-dentistry, pre-medicine, pre-nursing, pre-occupational therapy, pre-optometry, pre-pharmacy, pre-physical therapy, and pre-veterinary study options).

Health Science Study Options

Pre-Medicine Study Option
The courses below reflect the prerequisite courses for the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. Applicants to the University's of Minnesota's Medical School program must have completed a baccalaureate degree prior to enrollment.
Other medical schools may have requirements that are somewhat different from the University of Minnesota's. - Earn either a Crookston campus health science pre-professional degree or biology bachelors degree and then apply to the Master of Nursing program at the U of M, Twin Cities campus.

Pre-Occupational Therapy Study Option
Students who want to apply for a program in occupational therapy can complete the prerequisite courses as a part of several UMC degree programs. The courses listed below are required for admission to the program in occupational therapy at the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center. Students are advised to check with the program in occupational therapy regarding other admission requirements. Other programs may have different admission requirements; students applying to other programs should check with those schools to be sure to have completed the appropriate prerequisite coursework and any remaining admission requirements. Some programs in occupational therapy allow a student to transfer without having completed a baccalaureate degree.

Pre-Pharmacy Study Option
Requirements for admission to a Pharm. D. program vary from 60 credits of pre-pharmacy coursework to a completed Bachelor's degree. Students are encouraged to check the requirements for their programs of choice for the exact prerequisites needed. Completion of the liberal education and program requirements listed for the pre-professional degrees will meet the requirements for most programs. For those that require a Bachelor's degree, the following coursework is also required/recommended.
